Victorian Public Holidays Change
You are here:Recent amendment to the Victorian Public Holidays Act includes a change which will soon impact across the whole of the State.
Under recent changes to the Victorian Public Holidays Act, Melbourne Cup day is now a Public Holiday across all the State, where it was previously only a holiday in Metropolitan areas.
Other changes which could impact in the future are:
- An additional Public holiday where Boxing Day falls on a weekend. This will occur in 2009 when Public Holidays will occur on both Saturday 26/12/09 and Monday 28/12/09.
- An additional Public Holiday when New Years Day falls on a weekend.
- A substitute Public Holiday when Christmas Day falls on a weekend. This will occur in 2010 when Christmas Day on Saturday 25/12/10 will not be a Public Holiday, but Monday 27/12/10 will be a substitute Public Holiday.
- A substitute Public Holiday when Australia day falls on a weekend.
