The introduction of modern awards will mean major changes to minimum award rates, loadings and penalties during the transitional period commencing 1 January 2010 and concluding on 1 July 2014. We have used our interpretation of the implementation arrangements created by the former Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) for modern awards to create a calculator to help you work out what rates of pay will apply from particular stages of the transition period. Note the calculator is a generalised tool and specific provisions applicable in particular industries may not be taken into account.

Instructions

Because the transition to the new wages, loadings and penalties will depend on employees' relevant 'award' rates and loadings immediately prior to 1 January 2010, our calculator asks you to insert the starting figures and then calculates the transitional amounts as at 1 July each year from 2010 to 2014. You can insert different FWA annual wage review outcomes into the succeeding tabs to test the impact of future wage increase scenarios.

Note some fields use award-specific drop-down lists for you to choose from, others use figures you insert. Examples of the data format required are provided.

Which Modern Awards?

We will progressively add different calculators for major awards applying to our clients as time goes by.

Requests for adding specific award calculators should be directed via a Contact form, or call us on 1300 55 66 37. We can also create complete wage schedules for awards or provide pass-codes to unlock our spreadsheet formulas on request on a 'fee-for-service' basis.

Call us for information about these paid services, or you can also submit a Contact form on our Contact page.

Note the important disclaimer - we think our figures are right, but you should check them before relying on them. We won't be held responsible for any miscalculations, whether due to an error in our logic, or yours. However, if you find an error, let us know so we can adjust it!
