Paid Parental Leave from 1 January 2011

The Federal Government announced recently it would introduce a paid parental leave scheme for parents for births and adoptions that occur on or after 1 January 2011.
The scheme will provide 18 weeks paid leave calculated at the federal minimum wage, currently $543.78 per week.
To be eligible, parents must meet employment requirements and a (generous) means test.
