Yes Steve a tough one.
I worked in europe and the company only had policies that all buisness correspondence and communication was in English. Other than that staff were free to speak in their native tongue but were encouraged to speak english in staff venues such as the canteen or smoking area. Most people respected this. The company certainly encouraged staff to speak the common company language.
