Performance Counselling Training
You are here:Client 'A' - Performance Counselling Training
Our client had a history of ongoing issues with underperforming employees, including managers. This could be put down to a few factors including -
- Many of the managers were former outlet owners and were not used to being told how to do their job, or being held accountable for performance;
- Some outlets purchased into the business did not have strong management and therefore the expected level of performance was much lower than what the Company would expect from it's own employees.
Our client decided to address these issues by inviting ER Strategies to run a short C&D course for its managers on counselling and discipline of poor performing employees.
The session ran for 1 1/2 hours and addressed the why and how counselling and discipline ('C&D' as we call it for short) can be used for poor performers. We explained how Unfair and Unlawful termination laws operate at a basic level, so that managers could understood the consequences of not handling staff issues appropriately.
We also ran through the C&D process, using the "Gap" method which defines the gap between current and expected performance levels. The session finished with managers providing their own case examples of underperforming employees. The group then worked through the process, with the assistance of our C&D tools, including the Disciplinary policy and a Disciplinary Interview Record form.
